I participated in "Derby Day", so I can relate to the story about Mary and the girl from Memphis. The wisdom of your mother I've heard echoed in my own Southern mother's words. Thanks for an uplifting and heartfelt story that I can include in our high school library's "Mississippi Collection" (you are now one of our Mississippi authors) and with my husband and children as words to live by.
