News from the tour (7/9)

Greetings family and friends,

I had a great week last week in Denver and Dallas! I appeared at the 2009 Miss Colorado Pageant with Executive Directors Suzi and Wayne Doland, and the 2009 Miss Texas Pageant with Executive Director Jean Magness. We sold 210 copies of Promises I Made My Mother at Miss Colorado, and 150 copies of the book at Miss Texas. I also had signings and appearances at the Tattered Cover Book Store in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and at Legacy books in Plano, Texas. I did several radio interviews including a live interview on Talk Radio Europe which was broadcast to seven different countries. We talked about the book, my career, and my 60 City Book Tour. I also had the pleasure of being interviewed by Gary Cobill on Good Morning Texas! He had wonderful and insightful questions, and I enjoyed being a guest on his #1 rated talkshow in Dallas. My friends Former Miss America Rebecca King Dreman, and Jeanye “Tex” Irwin in Denver and Dallas respectively, were my official handlers/managers while I visited their fair cities. I was also joined by my publicists Nancy Perkins and Beth Kellogg for the appearances in Dallas, which also included a speech at the Richardson Rotary Club Meeting. I had a few days to change out my clothes and see my family in LA, plus visit a dress rehearsal of Mary Haskell’s starring role as Margaret in the Los Angeles Regional Premier of “Light In The Piazza”. This morning, I’m off to Miami, St. Petersberg, and Tampa, Florida. Stay tuned!

Love,

SAM

Hi, Sam—I met you at Miss Florida. Mary Sullivan called me over to meet you. She described me as one of the types of characters captured in your book. Well, I just read Promises I Made My Mother! You moved be to tears. Moving, thought-provoking, necessary in today’s world! I loved it and have told many, many of my friends about it! I, too, am writing my own book. I am amazed at the parallels in our world. —–My praying to God at the end for the RIGHT way, the answer was part of my conclusions. Bravo to you for putting such an honest, open work in print and giving such a gift to the world! Beverly Baird Boothe
